hello everyone,
sorry if it can be a question already made ...
the Radio King toms up to the 40s were without the badge?
Greetings!

No badges on toms till mid '66.
thank you so much :)
so even without the vent hole ... is there a special reason?
then the Radio King toms are identifiable only from the engraved hoops, and (on trust) from the hardware?
Wide reinforcement rings are common to see on RK era toms.
+1 with Glenn. With a few exceptions Radio King toms can be identified by wide (2-1/4") maple re-rings and mahogany interiors. No vent holes.
it's really true, it identifies better from the inside ^_^

OK. As to the hardware I am not aware of Slingerland ever using a square tone control. Radio Kings should be two round mufflers.
maybe it's broken and the circular muffler is missing ...

This is an early 30's radio king tom, the tone control is the first type of tone control slingerland used.
Thanks v-more. There are always exceptions! Yes, evidently this muffler was used the first year or two of Radio King production. After that the Harold R. Todd tone control with two round pads was used. Inserts in the streamline lugs date this tom to late '36 at the earliest.
