What about doing a Maple finish on the Mahogany shells?

Well, I suppose I could wrap the snare and the 16 with maple veneer but I hate to do that. I thought I read on another thread that Slingerland mahogany shells were hard to come by. If i do a solid color with sparkles or something the mahogany drums would require a ton of grain filler.
Thank you!

Jeff tried to shoot you a PM but your box was full buddy. Just curious about the veneers you're using. Thanks!
I will empty the box out but Im not sure what Im doing yet.

Cool!! They are great snares. Look for a beater maple shell. Have a couple of pounds of "Sound King" lugs to spare. On your own for strainer bits :-).
Looking forward to pics of whatever you decide.

Jeff,
If you haven`t removed the badge yet, I say clean up that snare and flip it to get a better maple one as suggested. Maple veneer adds a ply. I know you can make that drum live again to sell. Besides, it has a snarebed you can drive under.

Yes, I might need to find a maple floor tom shell and a snare shell. I dont plan to do any veneer work at all over the nice mahogany, these drums are too nice to do that. I will post some pics once I get all the glue off but wow the 16 looks really nice as is, no wood was damaged during wrap removal.
I did see that snare bed was deep, did Slingerland do that back in 1965?
Thank you!

I`m not sure about Slingy beds but it may have been done with the cloth. Does it look shaved or filed ?
