Slingerland kit

Loading...

I found this kit online and am wondering if anybody has any info on what year and series it could be? It doesn't have the original tom arm / mount or base. Would this be a nice sounding kit? Is it worth anything? Also, should the floor tom be a concert tom as well if it was matching?

Scroll up to the top of the page, click the link "Vintage Drum Identification". Some of the best Slingy info on the web.

Hard to tell with those pics... need more detail.. 70's badges.. but the closest thing would have been "Pop" outfit.. each of those drums were single headed though incl BD.

Fact that there is no badge/vent visible on the BD could mean rewrap..

Cheers

John

Unless they were dirt cheap I don't think you missed out on much. A lot of red flags there that push the value down. Probably could have been turned into a nice set but you'd have to spend some money to do it.

Once again, the old "this exact set up is not pictured in any catalog" crap rears it ugly head. The drummer could order any configuration of drums through any authorized dealer for the desired brand. Some music stores ordered drum sets in non catalog configurations for store stock. I have bought several non catalog drum set configurations either off the dealer's sales floor or ordered from the manufacturer. Most memorably, I was able to drive to the Slingerland Niles factory to pick up a Green Glass Glitter add-on tom to a set I bought that day from the dealer. Most of my vintage drum sets must have been ordered in agreement with the small print in the catalog stating that sizes other than those pictured for this outfit could be ordered.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

That is not the case here. No one said the kit was less desirable because it was not in a catalog. It was deemed less desirable because of the the questionable vintage, non original tom mount and other parts, missing badge, possibility of a re-wrap and two concert toms. All legitimate issues.
