Yes, it does exist!! A 6.5 deep metal DuAll. Our drum shop is auctioning this drum for a client (my former teacher in college) who in his 80’s has retired from playing. I’m posting a few photos here because this drum is extremely scarce and of interest to collectors. It will be auctioned on the Bay starting tomorrow.
It’s a 6.5 x 14 NOB drum. All original, missing only the Dodd muffler and a memory lock screw on the strainer. This version has the rod straight through the interior of the shell, similar to the Ludwig Super.
There have been some questions in the past concerning letter stamps on the gates of these drums, so I made sure to check. Both interior gates and corresponding hoop position have the letter K stamp. Backside of both vertical levers on strainer also have stamps- 2 zeros on the butt side lever and 2 fours on the throw off side lever. (I'll try and add a few photos of the stamps in the comments)
The auction will have a very in-depth condition description. The drum has been stored away for quite sometime. It was a player... the client played in professional orchestras including the BSO.
Should be interesting to watch... because of the scarcity, there will be no BIN. Enjoy the photos, and the auction!
