I have a set of Slingerlands from the late 60's era with bass, two mounted toms and two floor toms, without snare and would like opinions on the most profitable way to sell them. Should I sell them separate or as a set? I also have the hi hat and one cymbal stand. I would appreciate any opinions. They will be going on ebay soon!
Slingerland Drums - Best way to sell
Ken, may I ask what color it it? do you have pics?I have a while pearl set . from same era. not sure where you live but Steve Maxwell, www.maxwelldrums.com buys and sells vintage gear. he is in Chicago...
70's Pearl Fiberglass Ivory
The set is painted black. I just recently traded it for another instrument. It looks as if the old drum wrap was taken off at one time and neatly cut around the drum badges. It's a standard sized set with an extra 14" floor tom. I would sell the hi hat and one cymbal stand with the set. The bass drum is a 20". The drums are marked on the inside 1966. I will probably put these on ebay in the near future.
CAUTION-- Novice advice being offered here.:o
BUT>>> I'm thinking if the shells are good candidates to be rewrapped I guess I would break up the set.
Sell the stands seperate, sell the cymbals seperate, if it's got the sweet COB Sound King that came with so many of those 60's sets, sell that alone.
I always hate to see a nice clean matched set that obviously belongs together get broken up but if the wraps on yours have been removed and the shells painted then maybe it's a good organ donor.
The 14" floor tom is a hot item.. I would certainly list it out there by itself... you get a bidding war started on this thing and you'll make enough to re-wrap the set.. :)
Scan the completed listing in ebay to get an idea of what the prices should be.
That's just my two cents... best of luck!
OBTW.. I'm looking for some clean Slingerland tom shells to wrap in red sparkle. PM me and I can send you my email so you can send me some pics and I'll make you an offer... But that's not why I'm offering the suggestion you break up the set..:o
Thanks Jim! The information is really helpful. I will probably list on ebay when I get around to it. K. Hays
