al9000.....it doesn't open a can of worms....I actually have the hoop (new one....old one cracked about 5 years ago) and hardware (new also since I haven't been able to find my original hardware since we moved). Going to put them back together in the next couple days. I agree that the full head is much better. I love the Yellow Jacket....very smooth. Had 2 DW's and I thought, IMHO, that the stroke was smoother-but, just my opinion.
Slingerland Drums 1970's-9 piece set Last viewed: 10 minutes ago
longjohn......yes, I purchased them new in 77. Traded in a 5 piece white satin covered Slingerland set from 1964. Wish I had kept them now!!!!! I still have the cymbals that I purchased (well, my mom and dad purchased since I was 5 at the time) in 1964. I haven't found cymbals yet that matches that sound.
Blackrome.....I'm not sure if they are mahogany or not. I'll have to check them out closer. I wasn't aware that they used older shells at the time-but very possible they did. I'll have to get back to you on that question. I'll take some close up pics and post them in the next couple days.
Great thanks...
It's a nice looking kit.. I've let a few decent Cymbals slip away too over the years.. years later you tend to regret it.. when you do get a chance rattle off a few serial numbers from your kit.. be interesting to see how close they are to mine..
Cheers

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
I'm good with a single bass. Thanks.
Great kit, I had the 22" BD version
Hate to admit it but as much as I love my 60s Ludwig club dates my newly acquired 1970s Slingerlands sound better. They may not have the mojo as Ludwigs do but Slingys are the best value out there.
I'm amazed that you actually have a yellow Yellow Jacket pedal. I was a Slingerland dealer in the early to mid 80's and every kit I ordered with a YJ pedal shipped with the black frame. I even specified a yellow one for a store display to no avail.
