Anyone who could help you on here will need to see a pic of those cymbals to make positive identification possible.;)

Pick up a copy of the Slingerland book by Rob Cook.. page 153 indicates Slingerland Deluxe Cymbals, offered in the catalog from 1968-1971, were the middle of the line cymbals between Avedis Zildjian and Zilco. Priced about 24% less than Avedis Zildjians. Zilcos were about 40% cheaper.

Zilcos were made by Meductic in New Brunswick Canada.. but I can't exactly tell from the book who made Slingerland Deluxe Cymbals.

They're pretty nice sounding hats, but I've already got some paiste I play and some Slingerland lover might like to have these . I'd be willing to bet a dime Zildjian made these, they sure look it and sound it. If you don't mind I would like to pass on the info you gave me in my add. If you do tell me and I'll change it. I'll probably drop a bid on your cymbals.. i've been looking for some of the old Slingerland label cymbals to play with a Modern Solo kit I have.

Slingy did use stock cymbals made in Italy for a time.

Far be it from me to contradict Mr. Cook...but...stylistically (bell, lathing, hammering) those look Italian to me.[/COLOR]

Jaye... that wouldn't be a contradiction to Mr. Cook at all... the book didn't really identify where that middle of the road Slingerland Deluxe line was manufactured...

It only indicated the selling price was between the Avedis Zildjian's and the Zilco's... so perhaps Italy is the missing piece of info there.

I'm glad your interested in helping me so I tell you what, check back on the ebay auction pic.s here tonight (monday) and I'll take some side by side photos with the 20" Avendi Zildjian the kit also came with. I will be listing that cymbal as well. All this stuff I scored in a pretty big lot from a man who has learned he will die of cancer in a couple months. He bought a brand new thermal gloss maple ludwig with many other goods in 1971 in his early 30s and they never left his room at home. He loved jazz/ light rock and only played them for enjoyment. He said he was a touring musician in the late 50s to early 60s but gave it up for a family. These cymbals also came in a 71 Zildjian leather/ cloth/ padded cymbal case thats mint. I'll be listing it later this week to. You hear about these deals and they are hardly ever true. This one was.
