A kick port on a snare drum? huh?
Slingerland COB experiments?
Sure, why not a Kickport on ANY head?!?
I think they would probably work wonderfully on old calfskin bass drum reso heads. Especially on an old Slingerland bass drum reso head.
Dead dogs like rusty fire hydrants!!!
But why not a snare?Excited
Dead dogs like rusty fire hydrants!!!
well yeah, you're going to have to mic that snare somewhere?
Dead dogs like rusty fire hydrants!!!
yeah, w/ a calf skin reso on the snare too
in reference to the OP, the chrome wrap (sanded with 220) after removal from the tom
hope its detailed enough
That actually has a really nice look. Did you wet sand it? If not, I may use an orbital just to see the pattern.
Question, though -- is it dumb to go after a scratched up COB in terms of value... or is it a matter of "what the hell's the difference"?
That was just dry-sanded while it was still on the shell, one direction only, and using some sort of backing surface (in this case, a foam-backed handle thingly i got from a hardware store with a matching set of velcro backed sanding pads)
The backing helps with the even-ess(sp?)... I found using fingers leaves swirl marks, as you can easily create little arcs at the end of each sanding stroke
I only do this to shells one they've reached the point of no return... all my drums are "player" drums, so by then cosmetics outweigh value
