Slingerland beyond repair?

Loading...

Hi there,

Ray from Holland here.

I have the oppurtunity to buy a Chrome over Wood Slingerland but i know not much about them so maybe you can help me out.

What kind of wood is it and do they sound any good after restoration? Is it worth it?

is € 150 too much?

Serial is 125812, early 70's i guess?

Thanks in advance

Hi Ray,

Those COW Slings sound real good..I think the metal helps the sound.....

As it is in the Nederlands...I would say thats a very good deal..if it cleans up OK.....

150 EUR = 194.34 US Dollars.

If the drum is structurally sound, that price is OK if the tom mount in the picture and the bass drum spurs come with it. For no spurs, I would look to get about a 50 EUR discount. My guess is that the metal might not clean up very well. But, those drums do sound very good.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Hi there,

The tom mount in the picture comes with it and i agree with you leedybdp that they probably won't clean up very well.

I've tried to upload a picture from the bass drum spurs but for some reason that fails.

I'll try tomorrow.

Any idea from what year this is? And what would be a normal value of this kit? is it rare?

The serial numbers will be a help with dating the kit.. The tom mounting on the BD has been modified by the look of it, a closer pic of the mount would help.. The sizes of the drums will help with an ID for the model of the kit.

(Note it is a big job to remove that chrome wrap)

Cheers

Hi John,

i will take some better pictures tomorrow and hope that i can upload them.

One serial says 125812.

I don't think i want to remove the wrap but i will try to make it as shiny as possible.
