slingerland bass

I got a slingerland bass drum shell & hoops today...

I'm guessing that it must have been a marching drum?

it is totally stripped, no wrap, no lugs, no badge, just the bare shell and hoops.

there is a stamp that says: Oct 1961 and one that is a P and another one that could be a W or an M.

has any one ever used one of these with a kit before? pros/cons?

thought it could be fun, and it was cheap, so i grabbed it... ideas or suggestions?

I have never used a bass drum this big, and the only things I have heard people mention is the placement of the bass drum beater and where to put the toms.

Other then that it will surely have that vintage look. Remember, they were using these large drums early on since that is what was common.
