I've heard good things about these which were Slingerland's answer to Ludwig's Acrolite. I almost bought one a year or so ago at a local pawn shop but that one was the six lug model. I don't have anything against six lug snares but they wanted too much for the drum as such and wouldn't budge on the price. Eventually someone did buy it and I now sort of regret not snagging it but would rather hold out for an eight lugger anyway. Anyhow at the time I asked for opinions over at the DFO and all the responses were favorable so these do seem to have a fan base and probably with good reason.

Model #140 These are fantastic snare drums I have two of them now. an 8 and 10 lug model, they also come in 6 lug, they to me sound better than Ludwig acros. the trick is remo coated emperor on top and a snare side emperor on the bottom. The price this one is listed would be on the high side but with the puresound snare wires and the Gator bag it's a fair deal.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I have the 10 lug version, it's a great drum, wait for one to pop up around the $100 range you won't regret it.
