Slingerland AA pedal -- dis-assemble??

Hey y'all. I have a cool Slingerland pedal, and I think it's the AA model, although it has an Epic footboard. It is the model that has the two springs on the outside of the uprights.

I thought I'd like to adjust the throw. Natch, there isn't an adjustment for it, but I thought I could remove the chrome end pieces the springs are attached to and 'roll them back.' The Yellowjacket has those things in place with an allen head set screw.

But I can NOT see how to remove them. I took out the two screws on the uprights, but like the Tempo King, these just hold the bearings in place.

How the heck do those things come off? They may be a press fit, which calls for some hammer stuff, but that seemed a little drastic.

Any ideas??

Did a differently phrased search, and found it. From the drummer's point of view, the one on the right has a left hand thread, on the left a 'normal' right hand thread.

But when it comes to adjusting that throw angle, my imaginations fails. I don't see how I can do it.....

Well, it'll keep me busy!

Interesting the caps are threaded. Post a pic when you can of the rest. Someone might know how to adjust it. Quite a few guys tinker with the AA-Epic-Krupa pedals. I'd love to have a Krupa someday too!

Hi bfulton,

I've never gotten those endcaps off before. Can you post some pics?

Thanks,

James

James -- I'll try to post tomorrow.

But once I knew the threading it was pretty straightforward.

On the left side, ass you face the bass drum, grip it and turn counterclockwise. On the right, to loosen it, turn it clockwise.

I used a pair of the long pliers that open to a wide grip, and wrapped a cloth around the chrome part. It resisted quite a bit -- I had to hold on the the pedal strap mounts. But it did come off.

I'll try to get pics.

I don't have any ideas yet on adjusting the throw... may just learn to love it!
