I need to unload some kits due to space constraints. I am having a hard time getting my band in the room along with their gear and our PA. So, the first one to go will be this beautiful summer of '64 Slingerland kit. They are just not getting the playing time they deserve. This is a "pre badge" kit, meaning the toms did not come with badges. The bass drum and snare drum both have the black & brass badges. Oh, and this is a three ply kit.
There are a couple of imperfections that should be pointed out:
14x20 Bass drum - the inner ply has some issues on the bottom. Some guy had a pillow in there which retained moisture and caused the inner ply to "bubble" a little bit. You can see what I mean in the pictures. ***This has not progressed since I have owned the drums*** The resonant side has some delamination issues which will be an easy fix with some clamps and wood glue (of which I have neither). I have also included pictures of that issue. This must have been a rough day at the Slingerland factory. On the top resonant side it appears as if when they were cutting the wrap after it was applied to the drum they did a shoddy job (it is wavy). This of course, is not visible when the head is on the drum. One of the spur mounts is stripped. The spurs are not original. In order to accomodate the stripped spur mount, clamps will be included to keep the spurs in place. Lastly, the grommet is loose and the badge spins. Even with the issues mentioned, the bass drum sounds so good. Very deep and punchy. I am including a newish single ply Attack batter head that has about 20 minutes playing time on it and the Aquarian vintage logo head pictured.
All the drums are in round and modern heads seat easily. I purchased a brand new diamond plate for the tom from Steve Maxwell, so you know it is quality. The rail mount is in great shape and holds/functions well. The floor tom has the push-button style leg mounts which also work very well. The floor tom legs are not original and have the large Pearl-type ISO feet. The snare drum is in great shape. It has pretty deep snare beds and the rapid strainer which functions well. There is not a cymbal l-arm included.
This is a great little 20/12/14 kit with the matching six lug wooden snare.
