I told my wife not to get me anything percussive for Christmas, because she couldn't possibly buy me anything which I don't already own. Well, she proved me wrong and surprised me with this...

Every time we've been to the Caribbean, I've mentioned to her that I've always wanted a steel drum, but professional, hand-made pans are very expensive and not mass produced. This is an inexpensive 16" G-major scale pan by Panyard with great resonance and "ring". With the notes hand labeled, I was able to belt out "Silent Night" instantly. One more neat toy in the arsenal.

Good lead Creighton. I just found mine (polished chrome) on West Music's site for $240...

Glad my wife didn't spend the $1000-$2000 which the custom, hand-made ones cost. Panyard must be a new company. They must have found a way to machine or mass-produce these. Wish their web site was up to learn more about them. Maybe YouTube's got something.

And yah, I do have a great wife, but aren't they all great to indulge or at least tolerate our drum addictions?

So true! When I brought the RK Duco's into the house got a "That bass is in nice shape" and "In cases cool!". She likes 30's National Resonator g-tars so all good.

My wife paid for another month of drum lessons for me. She knows how much I enjoy that, it was nice gift.

Thank you!
