Show us your favorite drumming intros !

Just for the fun of it, I thought i'd post 4 of my favorite drum fill intros of all time, and was curious to hear what you guys consider to be your favorites. It can be from any genre and era, but it's got to be a song that starts off with drums, and you could post up to a maximum of 5 songs.

Of course, i know many that will definitely be posted here, but i'm curious to hear any that i've never heard of before. So, with that being said, here we go. Growing up in the 70's and 80's, i thought i'd post 4 drum fill intros that blew my mind the second i heard them. Couldn't find the original studio version of one song because of copyright grounds in Canada. DOH. So i found the next best original live version.

The first song is probably the epitome of drum intros, and is the most sampled drum beat of all time. And when i first heard the intro to the last song, i thought the guy had 2 pile drivers for legs..I never really played metal and don't play metal now, but it's fun to go back and reminisce between the ages of 11-25..Cool1;)

Enjoy !

MONSTER !!!! Loved Mr Big. They were the shredders to end all shredders. My buddy who's actually American and is a monster bassist, (influenced by guys like John Paul Jones and Billy Sheehan of course) recently had a stint with Eric Martin's solo band, and briefly did some shows with him in California. That ended pretty quickly, as Martin had vocal problems, among other things such as management issues. And yes, I was saddened to hear about the illness of Pat Torpey, but didn't know he had passed away. Superb, versatile drummer, and according to Eric Martin, an accomplished vocalist, which makes me have double the respect for him, as i too am a vocalist/drummer.

R.I.P. Pat...:(

Thanks for posting !

cheers,

Rob

Here are a few of mine:

An all time classic:

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmOLtTGvsbM"]Toto - Rosanna (Video) - YouTube[/ame]

Another all-time classic:

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMPlPJP2brw"]Van Halen - Hot For Teacher - YouTube[/ame]

An underrated gem:

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsdy_rct6uo"]Spin Doctors - Two Princes - YouTube[/ame]

A criminally underrated drummer (Phillip Fisher) and band from one of the best albums of the 90's. I know it's off topic slightly, but listen to the beat he plays during the chorus (around 1:25). A clinic in making a funk/hip-hop beat feel great:

And the last two are just magnificent by Vinnie:

and.....this whole song is basically a solo for Vinnie:

Dennis chambers has fun with his bass drums on the intro to this P-Funk medley: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1jCefuIIEw"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1jCefuIIEw[/ame]
