And don't forget packing materials too, boxes, peanuts, bubble wrap etc really adds up when shipping large items. For instance, I sent 2 conga drums to a buddy in Califonia last week and the cost for the packaging alone was over $50.

Yep, that stuff really adds up.

I try to save the incoming boxes and materials if I have room.

Cuts the cost of the outgoing quite a bit.

I got a TV the other day, and I was just too lazy to take the box to the trash for a few days. Turns out my bud VTM2000 used it to ship a bass guitar, so I'm glad I hung onto it for a bit.

My guess, based on past experience, is more than $100. The size and weight of the boxes is indeed a factor.
