I would bet they don't have that "round, warm sound". My guess they would be rather trianglar and boxy...

^^ Exactly! I mean, I am one who is always intrigued by new drum ideas, but I honestly can't fathom the physics of this. But, I'll reserve complete judgement until I hear them.....which will be never...so what the heck....here goes:
I think they are just for looks. Maybe they could be used to trigger electronic sounds. Maybe they could be used in a Star Trek movie as the drum set of some kind of space-alien.
As far as practicality? Not very. Again, drumheads would be impossible to find. Everything that is "standardized" about drums, presently, wouldn't apply to these.
Are they kinda weird/cool? Yes...yes they are....kinda.
