Scotsmen Rocking Bagpipes! Last viewed: 2 days ago

Loading...

I have always loved bagpipes and drums, the sound of Scottish pipes always makes all the little hairs on my body stand up straight. I never knew you could 'rock' bagpipes... check these boys out. They rock their arses off in kilts! I love it. The duck-walking bass drummer is a hoot.

Enjoy,

Had I known that playing pipes would ever be considered cool, I might have stayed with them.

Me playing pipes at the wedding of a family friend sometime around `78-`79.

I can guarantee I was not rocking them.

Cam - Robot Chicken is hilarious, I love that show. I grew up in New York city and there is no such thing as a parade in that town that doesn't include bagpipes and drummers. I learned to love the sound of bagpipes from listening to the Police and Fire Department bands playing. When you hear it live, the sound just carries you away. I can see why the Scots used them in battle, bagpipes and drums is something you -feel physically- when you hear it, it's a powerful sound.

Matt - Great photo! I admire your courage in posting it! :D My now 40 year old son is starting to learn to play. He's a NYC firefighter and one of the guys in the Dept. band is teaching him how to play. I hope to see a photo of him in kilts playing one day. And yes, you should have stuck with the pipes! Doesn't get too much better than pipes and drums if you really want to make some purely glorious noise.

My sister is a great piper! I grew playing in pipe & drum bands, probably another reason I like Premier so much. I have great memories of mass bands at the end of each highland games, with all of the bands playing together! So intense!! My real name is Ian Andrew Lachlan Stewart and my dad is from Glasgow so I'm genetically supposed to love the pipes, haggis and the breeze below my kilt!

I had to call the other guys in my office over to see The Badpiper playing AC/DC. The other street performers/buskers in his area are going to have to step up their game a bit to compete.

Thanks for both of those posts John.
