Sabian HHX Evolution Q

Loading...

A place near me has a used 16 inch Sabian HHX Evolution crash (Weckl signature model), which sounds fantastic. The bell is raw/unfinished, unlike new HHX which have polished/shiny bells. Any idea how old this might be? Anyone using Evo's? It almost sounds too loud!, it that's possible?

Thanks

jim

Not old. Super thin. Loudness comes from the thin metal and the dark/bright hiss of the hammering. Bells are sent out both ways these days. Some are polished more than others. Stopped using them because they didn't react as well as the X-Treme.

I use Evo's (18, 17, 16 Crashes and 7, 10, 12 Splashes) and all of mine are about 4-5 years old. The bells on mine are very lighly polished, but still "raw" and distinct in appearance. I would say it can't be any more than 8 or 9 years old.
