Rogers XP-8

Loading...

This set is from 1977. I have owned them since 1979 They were exactly two years old when I got them from the original owner who was selling so he could take a vacation to Hawaii. I got the better end of the deal. There are those same tiny checks in the finish around most of the lugs. Eventually I may re-wrap, but not until it is really a necessity.

It seems that the silver wrap is more prone to cracks and splits than others. Is that the case?

All of the commonly called "mist" colors are prone to the same check cracking. The wraps were very thick, and did not weather well with age. Drums that were very well cared for have done better. Drums that were subjected to poor care, radical changes in heat and cold, and severe temperatures at both ends of the scale, show even worse condition issues
