Rogers Marching Snare

Hello Vintage Drum Forum,

When I was younger, I thought I wanted to learn to play the drums. My parents were divorced, and living under mom's roof/jurisdiction... she objected. Mainly due to the noise I would make. Feeling sorry for me, one of my father's friends gave me a drum during a weekend visit to to my dad's house. Took it home, and she took it from me almost immediately walking through the front door.

Guess it wasn't too important to be the next Steven Adler, thus, I eventually forgot all about it.

After finishing grad school, my mom decided to sell our old house to me that she had been using for rental property. I did a complete renovation on it. While going through the attic, I found where mom stashed my beat maker.

Long story short, I don't know crapola about it and I have a patient wanting to buy it from me and I have no idea what it is worth. Included are some pictures I took of it. I can't find any serial number, the only thing I see is "Rogers" emblazoned on the side. Looks like it is still in good shape, but I am not an expert.

Any help in the matter would be greatly appreciated!

Before I forget, the gentleman who gave it to me (now in his late 60's) told me it was his old marching drum from High School.

I know this is a couple of years late, but I had to tell you that I have your EXACT Rogers marching snare drum. It was manufactured in 1966 since my father came home one day with mine - he had fixed the music teacher's television in our small home town in Michigan. He bought my drum just before I entered the third grade. The value of these kinds of drums are about $75.00 - $125.00 on eBay, but that is only a "guess-timate" all depends on how "rare" these are, and my experience is that these are not "rare" but more so "uncommon" for this exact model. In about 2003, I refurbished mine, without touching the finish. I cleaned it up and replaced the heads. Your heads are originals. I have photographs of me marching in the 4th or 5th grade band of our home town, and one more current. Because we moved to Arizona in 1971, my drum was subject to the dry climate. It is much lighter now because the wood has dried out. Anyway... let me know if you're still around and if you still have your Rogers Snare. Thanks! Jack
