Hey all,
I just picked up a 72/73 Fullerton kit, large sizes (14, 18, 24).
The 18" floor tom has the 4 knobby units and came with 4 hex legs (approx 17.5" long.)
However I noticed when I lined them up parallel, two of the legs seem to be bent at slightly different angles than the other two (pic below.)
Is this normal? Or do I have a mix match of parts here?

Yes, it is normal. I'm fairly certain that these were bent one at a time on a press. Very easy for all not to be exactly the same angle. Of course, if it were me, that would really bug me!!! Time to start searching for more legs! LoLoLoLo

Bummer! I wish I wasn't so OCD about details like this. My wallet would be a lot happier about it :(

Don't let it bug you. Just close your eyes and -listen- to them. That's where your money went... on that sound! No one who ever hears or sees you play them will ever know that there is a very slight difference in the floor tom legs.

Totally true, John! I realized the other day I was spending all this time worrying over the tiniest details no one would ever really notice. Then I slapped some new heads on my rack tom and BOOM! Like candy for my ears. Suddenly those small things didn't matter anymore.

I have about 27 of those legs.... ya know, counting all the floor toms and figuring it out... and yes, I noticed this years ago. Mostly on sets of legs born with the drum, things are pretty uniform, but not always so.

Purdie is absolutely correct here... and I should have mentioned it!
Do what Purdie said no one will ever know......and besides since no one will know then who cares.. :)
One would think the splay would be wider on the 18" than the 16" or less, maybe you have two from a 18 and two from a 16 or less !!
