Rogers Dyna Gut Frame?

Hello everyone!

I'm looking to "Concertize" my 6.5x14 COB Dynasonic. A more "crunchy" snare sound rather than the coiled wire. For those who may not know, I play in an Orchestra.

The '67 catalog I just looked at lists part #4728 (gut snare frame) for the 6.5x14 drum and the #4729 (also gut) for the 14" parade drum. I'm curious if anybody knows the difference between these two frames.

Would the parade model fit on a 6.5x14 concert drum? The different model numbers seems to suggest not.

I don't want to buy the incorrect frame because then the "voices" will then force me to buy the appropriate drum model for it.

Anyway, I'm looking for another sound option for my '72 dyna, so please let me know if anyone know the difference or has one lying around.

Thanks!

Kurt

Update:

Bobby at Jollity Drum farm came through! Now I have to source some proper snare guard plates.

FWIW: Bobby seems to have more parts and doo-dads than is possible for him to list, so get in touch with him directly if you are searching for something specific.

Hi Kurt!

Thanks for updating us! And, yes, Bobby definitely has more parts than he is able to list!

No problem, Mark. Every bit of info always helps others.

I couldn't do this if it were not for the all the online gurus (like you!) that share their knowledge around here, (unless I wanted to wait months/years for something to appear on Ebay).

Yes! I got a frame with Nylon for a 14 inch drum from the Jollity drum farm. I plan to re-string it with high gauge (thin) gut this summer, remove the existing snare guards and give it a test run.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, Rogers identified the 14" gut/nylon frame with two different model numbers (one for the 14x10 marcher and one for the 6.5 concert drum. It would sort of make sense that the marcher might have used thicker gut, while the 6.5 might have come with a thin variety. Who knows?

I thought I had taken a pic comparing the 15" version frame on my 12x15 Dyna to the 14", but I can't seem to find it. I am away traveling with my wife for a few weeks, so I should be back home in mid -July. I am striving to transfer files and get competent on my first Mac (PC-er for 30+ years), so bear with me.

I'm still in the market for the gut/nylon version snare guards!

PS: I've also got a Leedy drum that is in desperate need of the "Marvel" snare system (circa 1924-26-ish) to complete. Any leads would be appreciated!!
