Just an update...
I decided to strip the good tom to keep the set original and have purchased the same wraps online. I am in the process of wrapping the shells and should be able to post pics soon...I am missing one bass drum spur and the outside 20 inch wood drum hoop with 1/2 inlay........

All the above suggestions are sound advice.
The kit was given to you!! Do what your heart tells you.
If it were me, I would keep the kit together and restore it as close to original as possible.
Keep us posted.
In that order.
Oh and Zildjian and Ludwig.
And this ash tray.
Check this out:
I am not recommending using just tape. I buy from JS and use glue too. Anyway, he gets his wrap from the same place everyone else does. Just showing how the match would be very close. How yellowed are the other drums? I'd be selling off none of my Dad's drums, colour match or not. $00.02
Yeah no doubt, I didnt sell anything....kept it together
I have spent so much time on the project and love the kit so much ...it was my first ever kit ...and my dads second......i named her "Christine" just like the car from that movie.....
I can see my reflection in the lugs....
Those are the wraps i got! same ones from same place!, gonna look just like she did back in the day!!! I have the 2 toms done and working on the bass drum ....the hardest part seems to be lining up the wrap....
Too late i already started and used the tape...... After stripping that glue off under the old wraps my thinking was i never wanna do this again lol
I'll get pics up asap just trying to find a single bass drum spur and ill be done...found a hoop!

I just realized i forgot to put the little foam things back in under the lugs....anyone know how much that will matter if at all and what it will affect?
Thanks

Hi,
I am glad you decided to keep the kit, two generations of ownership has a high sentimental value in my soggy heart.
The foam was installed to keep the lug springs from rattling. I do not know whether Rogers actually did this, it was (and is) a common retrofit that many of us have done.
So you may wind up with some annoying buzzy rattles that are hard to place until you direct your ear to the lugs.
Just purchased an old Rogers kit. Appears to be in great shape, I'd think from the 70's. Have never done any type of restoration work. Any specific advice or information that would be of help.
Really glad you kept these drums together. Exactly what I'd have done.
Look forward to seeing this all done...
Best,
Aaron
