I am selling my Rogers Mardi Gras Beavertail Constellation drum set for $2,500. The sizes are 22-13-16. This set came from Frank's Drum Shop in Detroit in the mid 60's. The drums have Dayton Holiday tags in the 82,000 range with flat grey interiors. The bass drum interior was painted black at some point in time & then repainted grey over the black. I sent the bass drum to Jack Lawton to clean & buff the shell - he installed a Rogers drum tag that he had in his possession. The drums have the purple tinted late version of Mardi Gras. The floor tom has several superficial stratch marks most of which are not visible under normal light conditions but they do show up in the pictures with the camera flash. There are 2 gouges in the rack tom from rubbing against the snare, but these are shallow and are about 2 - 3 inches long & 1/4 inch wide. I have not done anything to the FT & TT other than clean it with Novus 1.
The set includes the drums & the mounting hardware for the tom & the cymbals & the spurs (the snare is not included). All the collets are machined. There are tall hoops on the 13" tom & standard heigth hoops on the floor tom. The bass drum hoops were repainted and silver sparkle inlay installed by Jack Lawton. The bass drum has the faucet handle t rods & claws. The lugs are the heavier Cleveland version. The chrome is in very good condition.
The set has been played and has use marks but it shows beautifully. This is a rare Rogers mardi gras set of drums that you can take out to gigs & play. It is a rock n roll set with some great local Detroit history. The drums sound great, they project well & cut through the mix of other instruments - they have that Rogers consistency & quality workmanship & despite the marks they do show beautifully.
Here is a link to more pictures with close ups of the shells,
I do have additional pictures for inspection if you request them. My email in jtonemike@gmail.com
