Rogers BD Question, re: Support Post

Loading...

Hi. I'm new to the forum, and it looks great so far.

Q: Has anyone every switched out or removed altogether the tom support tube that is inside the shell of a Rogers BD? I might want to go with a different mount. Is that long tube that runs the entire length (diameter) of the shell really necessary? Advice appreciated.

Thanks -

Guess if you don't try to hang too much from it. The tom holder only has 2 screws for support. Maybe if you use some larger washers to give more support.

No one else has a big ass pipe running through their drums for support, and they held up fine.....oh wait.........Gretsch had some HUGE pipes running through theirs for a minute back in the 70's-80's,didn't they................

The shell can take it, but a Rogers tom mount does not have contact surface with the 2 small bolt heads. Mount alignment on the shell puts the axis in the narrow direction. Hense the suggestions to pur larger washers to help with the torgue of the mount holes.

And while you are so handy with the nuts and bolts........

Add those two washer to each of the fasteners on your spur mounts. It will make a difference.

Yes bigger washer's would help on the support for the drums.i have also removed the tube then i have welded a nut into the end,put it back on the drum then drilled a hole in the shell on the bottom added the screw this will help with extra support for the tube....Mikey
