Hey Guys.. Jim Petty has several of his STEEL B&B replacement lugs that need to be on YOUR old Rogers drums!! I am "involved" in the production of these lugs. I know that many of you have seen them on EBay.. because there have been a LOT of hits on the auctions.. perhaps many of you think, as did one caller Jim heard from, that there is a HUGE profit in these lugs at $20.00 each... well, guess what.. there ain't.. it isn't 1960, and we didn't produce 25000 of them to get a 'unit cost' that is low.. believe me, they would be cheaper if the costs were lower!! Just getting the tooling (dies) done to stamp these things out would give you indigestion! We never expected to actually make $$ on the deal, just make enough to on the small lugs to get a start on the large BD lugs!
Jim got a really tacky call a while back, caller accused him of EXHORBITANT profit.. that these things couldn't cost more than a couple of dollars to make.. !! Jim didn't take too well to the accusations... but I dont think he bothered to give the caller a lesson in machine work costs, steel costs, stamping costs, plating costs and polishing costs... oh yeah, and drilling costs. He did give him a new viewpoint in calling people.
Well, I wish it were true.. that they only cost a couple of dollars to make. then they would be a LOT cheaper. These are the only choice out there in any quantity that are true to the originals.. only in steel, which will last a LOT longer than the original drawn brass.
Pass the word around, get those old B&B drums off the shelf and back into the gig bags!!
