Ringo's Hi Hat Tambourine in Get Back

If you've seen the Get Back documentary, then you've seen this on Ringo's Hi Hat. I happened to have one stashed away. There are two holes for mounting it. You can put it on the hi hat rod a-la Ringo, or you can flip it on its side and mount it to your bass drum beater.

Hi, I'm not sure. It appeared in the 1969 Dallas Arbiter catalog. It's called a Tamba-Ching, but I'm only learning this stuff now that the documentary has been released. I had always just assumed it was Premier or Olympic or something.

For many years during the 60s I kept a headless tambourine laying on top of my upper hi-hat cymbal.

So is the plate aluminum or steel?

It's aluminium with some kind of silver paint job.I think, but not certain. I'd have to test with a magnet.

Ralph Kester invented Flat Jacks drums. He also created the Ching Ring. I used one of those instead of that tambourine sometimes.

But the Ching Rings are like a dime a dozen. They're out there. This one Ringo used is as rare as can be.
