I've been listening to this since the mid sixties, even transferred it to CD. Krupa in the left speaker, Buddy in the right. It always makes me want to put my sticks away and face the fact I will NEVER do what Buddy does!
Listening to his snare work....I tell ya he ain't human!!!
Back when I thought I was doing really good, I'd just put this on to be totally humbled.
Take a listen to his WEST SIDE STORY medley....guy was unbelieveable
Now go listen to some Al Jackson or some Ringo. There are more ways to get it done. You'll feel better.

Yes he did. He added the tea towel to our arsenal.
Now, now....While I certainly would not put Ringo anywhere near the likes of Buddy Rich (I think they are at opposite ends of the drumming spectrum), He did get the job done, fit the Beatles perfectly! Was part of what made them unique. I mean, what would the Beatles have sounded like with Carl Palmer?

Agree that Ringo was chosen for his "fit", and definately not his drum skills. Good to see his son is so much better a drummer...the guy is really good.
Rich's Norwegian Wood album is good, too, but the brilliance of the West Side Story medly is unmatched.
My point was that if Buddys inhuman abilitys make you discouraged, you can take comfort in the fact that you can still make great music, make millions of $$ and have alot of fun, even if your skills are on a par with Ringos. It wasn't a comparison for cryin' out loud.
