Deano, that should be a Down Beat...although the 12 does appear to be mis-matched. I like the color, although it could be argued this is a put together as well....see, there is too much conjecture. If the price is right, why worry? as long as all drums are ply matched, they should sound great, regardless of matching wrap. If the 12 is from a different kit, you still have a Down Beat plus a 13. So, get it close and see for yourself. If the seller is truly an original good doer, then he will accept a return, if you find it is not exactly what you want. Or, you could still sell re-sell it to someone else who is looking more for a great player than an exact matching set. The badges, or rather serial #s, will be more an indicator than anything else. If they are 3 years apart in sequence, then you know it is a put together. If, on the other hand they are close, within say an 18 month period, you likely ave a factory matched kit with an add-on. And as Tom states, Ludwig did not do the double tom mount on the weenie, only Star did that, at least during this era.
I wish you good luck with it, as this is a nice looking blue sparkle kit!
