Restoring late 30s Leedy kit

I have a possible line on a very good deal on a set of 1938 Leedy drums. It looks like the "Greenwich Village" model.

The wrap is pretty much trashed. My question, for value/resale, is better to paint it or re-wrap it? Either would be done to as close as possible the period correct finish.

I know the traditional thought is painting will add to the value, a re-wrap will detract..but I'd like to hear any thoughts on this.

Both painting and re-wrapping will detract from the value. How much depends on the quality of the restoration. The closer you can keep it to original the better, resale wise, but once the original finish is trashed or stripped you have stepped outside "collector kit" territory.
