Restoring an LA Camco Kit

Loading...

Just scored this sweet LA Camco kit in Alice Cooper White and bearing gold hardware (everything is gold! Rims, lugs, bass T's, spurs, floor tom legs, mounting brackets, etc.). Sizes are 24 (virgin)/13/14/15/18. The bearing edges are sharp, shells in round, internal muffling mechanisms completely intact, no extra holes; I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!

Already ordered new gold-colored triple flange rims, gold-colored DW STM mounts for the racks, and some Flitz metal polish for the other hardware. Looking forward to getting these babies SHINY!

Love the shell color, but it's very chipped and dinged. Wondering if I'm even capable of returning it to it's original condition or if I should just sand it off and refinish in natural. I recognize it's somewhat of a rare color among these even more rare drums. Any recommendations?

neatbeats - Go to the 'Stewart McDonald' website. When you get there, punch: 'Guitar finish repair' into the search box. Stew/Mac has lacquer finish repair kits for guitar bodies. Choose the color closest to your drum finish and just follow the instructions. You'll get everything you need to perform several repairs to the finish along with step by step instructions.

Great kit! Well-worth saving!

Welcome to VDF!

John

Too many great drums to list here!
