Thanks Glenn! This thread went dead, no one but you has been interested. Oh well, lol!Jeff C

Well with close to 1500 views I'd say there's some very good interest. I for one can really appreciate the hard work and talent it took to pull this off. I think most would have given up on this one. I think as more people see the finished product they'll start to chime in.

Did you find the rest of the parts you need for the other drums?

Glenn.

Glenn.

Glenn you are right there has been alot of views. It just seems like that the interest has gone away since it took so long. But here I am with the completed drum all excited to share it with the people that were interested a few weeks ago and expecting several responses.

What really matters is I have a very cool drum and love it. I did not get all of the parts for the other drums yet but enough to keep going. When I get all of them done I will post pics of the entire kit in the main forum. Thanks for your kind words, good luck with your Slingy project!

I'd like to chime in and tell you how beautiful your snare drum looks. As a fairly new member to VDF, I am amazed almost every day by the talent and craftsmanship I see from people who care enough to save these treasures. Incredible job and thanks for sharing these pictures.

Jeff - Finally! It looks great man. You did a super job of saving that great old drum. Hey, sometimes it takes awhile to finish off a project. It's hard to keep the readers attention sometimes when you're doing one of these projects in 'real-time.' Even a simple restoration can take weeks. Given today's video-game attention spans... I consider myself lucky when anyone sticks around long enough to see the finished product.

You're a pro. Another one saved! Kudos.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Thank you John! Ya its funny how a thread can get real popular at first while you are doing the work, but if it takes a long time some people forget about it and here you are like a little kid at Christmas all excited because its done.

This project was really interesting, I had alot of fun. Even my customers were intreaged.

Hope you get through that storm out there with out problems. In our news they said several power company trucks from here are already on the way to the East. Have a good evening!

I bought this at a Flea Market for 5.00 and every thing looks good but the bottom snare head was torn . I replaced the head with a Ludwig head and started to tune it but then the snare cords were getting pinched , then I took the head off and look at the bearing edge and it has a slight concave shape at each end with the snare and cords go threw . This drum has an L type of hoop . If you tighten the head, it leave the snare area unsupported and the snare wants to buckle the head . Is this normal , I will attach pictures , I do not know if buying a calf head will fix this or if the drum is shot or this is normal or were to go next. Can you advise me .
