Restoring 66' Ludwig Club Dates

The shells are on their way to Precision! I've dealt with this company many times over the years, they'll send the shells back to me 'ready for hardware', I won't have to do another thing to them. George will be cutting back the wrap at the bearing edge, so fitting heads will not be a problem now, or in the future for my grandson.

As soon as the shells are back, I'll do final assembly and shoot some photos. Then, it's off to my grandson!

Outstanding John! Perhaps your nightmares of green glass will be replaced again by dreams before long!

Even if it cost a little extra in shipping and time, it feels good to have made a descision and pull the trigger on it doesn't it?

Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Squint - I had no choice, bro. There is just no way to cut this stuff and get a clean edge unless you have dedicated tools for it. Filing will only get you so far. I paid to have George dress all the bearing edges for me while he has the drums in his possession. He's the guy that cuts -all- the bearing edges at Precision, he'll make sure they're level and true. They're going to sound excellent with the cleaned up edges. Like new!

Looking forward...

John

Yep, I'm pretty sure that's the sequence. So an Evans head that doesn't have the 360 logo, but does have the 360 collar design might read 12L16 for 2012-Dec-16.-Tim

Tim thanks for the info. I've spent a lot of time reading date codes on car parts and that's very much like the old Ford date code sequence.

John good to hear the shells will be in good hands and back to you soon. That was the right thing to do.

The shells are back from Precision! Man, they did a sweet job on the bearing edges (see photos.) They also cut back the wrap away from the bearing edges so that heads can now fit and be tuned up with no problem. They are hardware ready, baby!

Movin' & groovin...

I'll post more photos as I complete the drums. I've got the brass and the hardware ready to go, just waiting on the drums to come together. Then it's off to NYC to freak out my grandson!!!! Can't wait!

TommyP - Please leave the two posts from Rogersling up for all to see. It's important for people to know who this guy is.

Guys, sorry, I'm going to close the thread. Rogersling will not stop until the thread degenerates into a pi$$ing contest, which is apparently what he's shooting for here. My dad always told me... "Never argue with an idiot! You can't win!" Good advice...

LOL

Rogersling - I'm leaving your words up for all to see. Trust me when I tell you this: you injure yourself far more than you ever hope to injure me. Back in NY where I grew up we call it, 'Showing your a$$hole.' Now everybody knows who -you- are...

Thanks to all who contributed to the thread. It was good while it lasted. I really did want to share this special project for my grandson with you guys. It was making it all more fun for me to have you commenting and sharing the experience with me. It's a real shame that one 'bad actor' has to spoil it for everyone.

Peace...

John
