Just wondering if anyone has ever used a snareside head as a resonant head on rack and floor toms ? Share your thoughts ?
I am almost done renovating a Cleveland-Tag Rogers Holiday 3-pc in Mardi-Gras wrap (original) with B & B lugs.
After a 4-month wait, I finally rec'd the last of the B & B reproduction lugs I ordered from JP2 Creations....they have been coming in piecemeal, ever so slowly, since December....
All of the batter sides of the shells now have the strong, heavier-cast steel reporduction lugs. The original B & B's which were uncracked I have moved to the resonant sides of all shells, to keep the tension and stress off of them. I have also reinforced the interiors with cold-weld.
These old B & B's tend to crack under moderate and high tension...so besides the fact that, forever, the overally tuning of this kit wll remain on the low side, I wanna find the lightest res heads possible...it'd just make me feel more comfortable. At the moment I have a janky chinese cellophane-like head on the bottom of the rack, and an Evans 1-ply clear reso on the FT....but I still don't even feel calm about that.
Am just wondering if something as light as a snareside head (even an Emperor snareside) would make the toms go ring-crazy.....
