Greetings,
I have several of these vintage trap cases. One I acquired recently is missing all but one of the "strap guides" on it. They are what the strap passes through and keeps the straps "in line" (see the photo, there are four of them in the photo, each strap goes through two of them).
The guides have simply broken off on my case; the rivets are still there. I can drill out the rivets and replace them with screws and nuts. I was wondering what would be good as replacements for these guides. Anybody have and experience with them?
I was thinking along the lines of gutter/eaves trough clips (that hold gutters tight to vertical walls), and although they are the same shape, they would be too big. I was also thinking of conduit clips (that hold metal or PVC electrical conduit tight to walls etc.) They would be the right size, but are rounded and not flat. The space between the existing holes from the old clips is 2.5". The straps that pass through the guides are 1.5" wide.
Maybe some type of small drawer handle or small drawer pull would work? I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks for your help!
V
