The only way I can scrape it off is to soften the paint with the thinner. I can only do a small area at a time or it rehardens and wont scrape. So you dont think it's oil?
Removing paint without damaging wrap?
There`s a chance it is but it don`t look like it to me, but I`d have to say, if you gotta do small bits at a time, then that`s what you need to do to save the wrap underneith. If it all come off like the sample photo, you`re good.
If youy try to use harsh strippers you run the risk of removeing the sheen on the wrap. I`d say keep doing what you`re doing cuz it looks to be working.

Need some help here. I have a Green Sparkle covered with two coats of paint. I've had some success with Lacquer Thinner getting the black paint. The red paint has been very stubborn. I've tried Goof Off, Liquid Sandpaper, Grip Solvent (for golf clubs) the lacquer thinner with little success. Haven't tried the Graffiti Remover (the Goof Proof is apparently the same type solvent) Any other suggestions are welcome. Here are some pics.
My picture uploads have failed. Not sure what to do next. I will keep trying. Thanks
