Do any of you have experience removing wrap from the early 70,s Olympic mahogany shells?

Some I hear are harder than others, but im not happy with the current finish and the kit is basically a back up so if I mess up...Coffee Break2

I have found a heat gun with a putty knife under most wraps works the best. Just be very careful not to catch it on fire. Work the gun back and forth to loosen the glue on the outside of the shell while using the putty knife between the wrap and shell sliding it back and forth to help separate the two. This will help to keep you from damaging the shell. Slow and steady !

I used this technique on a Rogers FT (which were glued very well) as well as old Ludwig, Slingy, Gretsch, and Premier drums.

Here's some pics of the removal from the Rogers shell, sorry I didn't take any of the other ones I worked on.

Good luck

Michael
