I guess it just varies...one WFL bass drum I did, well...I was using the heat gun, and I left it in one spot too long...
Wrap ignited...no big deal, I am cool, it has happened before...I grab a rag and smother the flame and it extinguishes.....
But this time the rag caught on fire (this all going on in my garage, w/ door open... thankfully)...I threw the entire shell onto the garage floor so it wouldn't ignite my workbench....
By now I am freaking and I have to run upstairs to get an extinguisher. By the time I get back down the entire shell is on fire...I am talking heavy-duty barbecque here.....flames to the ceiling (I was glad that the sprinkler system for the buiding didn't extend to the garage, or it would have set off the entire building system).
I hit it with the extinguisher....get the dust coated over everything in the garage....
When the dust clears....the wrap is all burned off the shell. It looks like a charred shell...BUT...I hit it with some 80grade paper, and the black came right off the wood !....back to Mahogany ! Didn't even impact the outermost ply...
Another successful wrap removal....woo-hoo !electricit
Moral: like Don said, keep the heat gun moving.....
