I'm looking for sources for an odd drum kit I'd like to find. I'm a percussionist (congas and other hand drums) with a rock band that has lost its drummer, and I have been asked to play kit as well as hand drums. So far I have assembled a hybrid setup out of some available instruments, but I would really like to locate a full Remo Mondo kit, the one where each drum had a conga-style head so it could be played by hand as well as with sticks and mallets. The Mondo kit I saw years ago at an Illinois drum shop even had a few doumbek-style drums (Remo called them tombeks) mounted like rack toms. I'm sure very few drummers were ever interested in this strange setup, but for a percussionist who needs to cover kit sounds, it could be a good choice. Unfortunately that kit is long gone, and I've never been able to find a duplicate on eBay or elsewhere. If you can point me in a possible direction, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

While I don't have a mondo kit, I do have a mondo snare drum that is more or less brand new. Seriously cool piece of gear that I purchased for a particular project a couple of years ago. It's been sitting ever since. If you need one, let me know. Sounds great with sticks, brushes, mallets and hands.
For those of you who don't know, it's basically a djembe batter head over a standard snare side with snares on a 12" shell. A really unique and creative instrument.

Hi There tnsquint,
Are you still looking to sell your Remo Mondo Snare? Where are you based? How much do you want for it?
Thanks,
Sam
