I'm looking to put some Evans heads on my 59' Slingerland kit. I have had no problems with Remo's. Do you think I will have any problems with Evans heads fitting?
Thanks!

No problems what so ever!!
stick with Remo! Mister T
haha....I don't really have any favorites as long as they fit fine. I have used them on a Pearl Session kit I once had and thought they sounded good. I want to try the retro screen bass head. I am also thinking about trying an etched head on my snare.....
We'll see I guess;)
The etched head is a 1 ply head which is perfect for brushes. This will only take a light beating. Keep that in mind when you purchase. I haven't tried the retro screen yet. Maybe you can post what you think of it? Good luck.
Cheers

Will do. Thanks!
I finally got the heads on. I'm really loving the Evans heads and the fit was just as good as the Remo's.
The retro screen bass head gives a nice solid punch just as described....The look is nice too. I put a clear EMAD on the batter, but might try a coated EMAD in the future. The only downfall to the retro screen head is that the mesh contacts the bearing edge directly and MIGHT slightly damage the bearing edge it tension too high. It is a very fine mesh so it might not do any harm, but I wish a small plastic ring was there to give me that piece of mind....fortunately my bearing edges aren't perfect to begin with.
The J1 etched heads are also great. The etching gives the heads less of a plastic feel and have a great rebound. These heads also seem to be a little warmer and more musical than a coated head. By "musical" I mean that the overtones are more refined (not dampened much) and they sound great at all tuning ranges. On the snare, the sensitivity seemed improved compared to a standard coated head and the added rebound makes playing feel easier. One funny thing is that the oil from fingers, moon gels, etc. will show when they contact the head.
IMO, these heads are very versatile. Although, I wouldn't use them for heavy playing because they are fairly thin.
I hope this helps someone!
