Remo Bravo marching snare

Can someone give me a little information on these snares? I'm having a hard time finding anything on them. Are they vintage? Thanks in advance!

That one appears to have a Slingerland batter side hoop, and Ludwig lugs. As far as "vintage", I think they were made in the mid-late 80's or so.

Probably not a wood shell either.

Acousticon(yuk) shell which is wood fiber and glue.

Remo Legato was their good stuff.

Actually, the shells were the same material, just thinner on the Bravo series. Lots of people swear by the sound of the shells (on the regular sizes, anyway) but i never could get a sound that i liked from them.

There's quite a bit of info out there on Acousticon in general, which is what most, if not all, of Remo's drums are made of.

Most marching drums these days are geared towards hi tension tunings and the Acousticon shells under high tunings tended to have the bearing edges collapse upon themselves.
