Reggae Snare!

Hi All,

I'm a relative noob and I'm trying to get a timbale-like tone like Famz Jr. does in [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5wUUJYGdvA"]this YouTube Clip[/ame]. I have a 6.5" Supraphonic and a Remo CS Dot head tuned to the note he's getting here. Unfortunately, the sound is super choked and it sounds more like a doumbek, with lousy resonance. I've tried several reso heads, but even the Ambassador TD's (meant for high tension marching snares) rip when they're bought up near that pitch.

Any hints for me? Thanks in advance!
