This kind of falls in the drum world community, I need a powerful reciever to push 4 large speakers to play my drums in the basement when wife is not home LOL..I don't care if it has marks, or scratches, only that the inner circuts are good. I just picked up 4 speakers worth over a grand for 50 bucks, would like to pay around the same if possible. Cheers!!

well I found this one, I wish someone could tell me the difference between a "home theater reciever" and a plain ole stereo reciever, they talk about surround sound, and all, in my day, you had a plug, and 2 imputs for 2 sets of speakers. I guess I'd like to know if a unit like this one, can be used as a home stereo, it appears to have lots more than I need. nothing is simple anymore.

The Yamaha has all of the bells and whistles and is not a bad price..
However for what you need I'd be looking for a plain old Stereo receiver , Typically a Stereo Receiver or Amp has more grunt..
The Yamaha has a whole lot of surround features that you will never use and you will need a pilots licence to operate it..
Old JBL's need at least 100w per Channel to get them pumping...
Cheers
