Today i painted the interior of my pre serial ludwig because someone painted them black. So now my drums are looking original except the stamp! Any way ludwig would re stamp the date inside the drums?? I'm never going to sell them.
Re stamping the date?

i bought a drum recently that had the interior repainted before i got it. it might have even been a natural interior drum(early 60's) that he painted to match the rest of his kit. but he took the time to write the build date in the shell with a sharpie. i though that was pretty cool. anything is better than nothing i think...

That's what I'm talking about. The only problem is I know the year they were built but not the exact date.

You can always stamp them yourself. There's many different rubber stamps you can buy new and used. I don't know the LW font style but sure someone has an idea? Check ebay and here's a link too for a place that has some.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.
I make rubber stamps for a living. Don't generally do custom work cause zero return on investment. Spendy to generate all the needed bits.
However I'm building up a plate of Radio King head stamps for my own use. RK Tom Tom, RK Bass Drum etc... If you or anyone else has something they want just send the best possible high resolution files to:
cjsmith1@ix.netcom.com
I'll put them on the mag plate, press and mount on wood for cost.
Just numbers $15'ish full alphabet with numbers $40 or so.
Don't think I can legally sell the RK stuff.

Well I figured my drums are pre serial and my kick's interior was clear and my toms are were white... in 1960 the drum interiors were clear laquer and in 61 they switched to white so I figured my drums must be a late (dec) '60 kick and early (jan) '61 toms because ive been told they are all related and were sold together

I have a 69 Ludwig Silver Sparkle kit with double kick and 7 toms. Most of them (interiors) have been painted twice. ONe of the kicks has a clear lacquer finish. I have thought about stripping to the bare wood, but decided to paint them the granitone finish. I didn't even think about stamping dates. I have been putting this project off for too long. This kit belonged to a friend that passed away. I know the whole history about the 2 coats of interior paint. I dont think it will increase the value of the drum. Once the interior has been painted it kills the value to collectors, but who ever sells anything? I don't! LOL
The silver sparkle is on the left of the pic.
