We're the re-rings in the drums made from one solid piece of maple? I realize this could vary from brand to brand but does anyone have any knowledge to give?

Depends ,some are some aren't.
I have a DW Craviotto that is one piece re rings and a DW 10 and 6 that is ply re rings.
Collectors Series - Like their drum counterparts, they are available in either Maple or Birch shells in either a 6+6 (six plies w/six additional plies of reinforcement rings) or 10+6 configuration (10 plies w/six plies of reinforcement rings) with a wide array of colors and shell sizes.
