can anyone give help me out in evaluating this kit? there's some wfl floor tom brackets and a couple of other anomolies. But, the price is fairly low. Is this a good specimen of the vintage slingerland mahogany shells?

I saw those myself. Even with the mods, a pretty good deal.

Yes, those look like RK's, although the re-rings on the toms usually are much wider, but I am more familiar with 59, 60 era drums. I'd guess these are just before that, perhaps 56 or 57. The badge is legit, my 59 1N only has a badge on the BD and snare drum, none on the toms.

I'm sure someone could chime in as to when they quit putting mufflers on the reso side on the toms, because my 1N's don't have them.

I'd say go for it, especially if they are close to you, I would!Walking

I thought that until I saw the two bolts on the left side. My guess is somewhat changed the mount. The pic I added has the mount that looks like it may have been on the left. Far as the toms not having badges, the Leedy ( made by Slingerland ) kit I have only has the badge on the bass drum. No badge or grommet on the toms. That is a nice looking kit and for a very reasonable price.

Excellent point!

The cymbal mount missing on the other side may have something to do with that.

The rings are correct...the wide ones were earlier. They were one inch from the mid '50s and into the '60s.

my only deal breaker is modern heads fitting. i've owned two vintage kits now that wouldn't take modern heads, and i don't want to be limited to aquarian vintage. Seller said they are "not too tight, not too loose. shells are in round considering the age." i don't know what that means really; they're either in round or not.
