Radio King bassdrum

Loading...

Hi!

I'm restoring a old radio king drumkit. I have a couple of questions about the bassdrum. It's a 3- ply mahogany- poplar- mahogany shell. On the reinforcing ring there is stamped; T-8 D-18 S-55. Does this mean it is made 18th of August 1955?

Next question is about the lugs. I know the beavertail lugs where changed for sound king lugs in 55. Was it in the beginning of 55? Witch are the right ones for my drum?

If the drum is from 1955, is there supposed to be holes drilled for legs?

Thankful for anwers! Olle

I'm not an expert in RK's but what lugs are on it now?

Does it not have leg mounts?

The drum has sound king lugs, byt in the bottom of the drum there is 4 beavertail lugs mounted. I'm trying to figure out by looking at the change in colour (from age) but it's difficult. There is legs mounted but i can see it's the wrong ones when I look at the finish.

I think the earlier legmount also is drilled later cause there are no holes for tom or cymbalmount..
