Questions about this Mahogany Cannon kit Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Hey drum forum,

I have been haunting your site the last week or so and see that there are some knowledgeable people on here. I'm hoping someone can tell me a little bit about this Cannon kit I have.

Its supposedly from the mid 1970's and the owner at the time put a mahogany veneer on the outside. Did Cannon make a Mahogany kit during the 70's because or could it been a hand done veneer.

Also it has some real slick looking fluted clamps holding the drum heads on. Can anyone shine some light on the beautiful kit???

Most drumcompanies at that time put veneer on horizontally except for sonor.

No one was using mahogany as a finish ply that I know of.

Cannon drums as I remember were student and entry level kits back in the 80's.

It looks like someone took off the wrap and did a good job of finishing the luan Mahogany that was already there IMO.

Either way the kit looks good to me.

Welcome to the forum by the way.
