Question about hoop-mounted cymbals....

Loading...

Hey guys...

What's the biggest cymbal you'd feel comfortable mounting on a bass drum hoop? The reason I ask, I'm thinking of mounting a cymbal or two on the hoops of my bass drum (modern hoops) to conserve floor space, and to keep from carrying so much to the gig.

The bass drum would be a vintage, 3-ply (mahog/pop/mahog) shell, probably 12"x26". I'd like to mount a crash on a straight hoop mount and possibly a ride as well.

What're your thoughts?

~Jon

I have a 12" china mounted on the front hoop right between the toms. I smack the crap out of it.
